«FRAM» means «Go forwards!» or «Let's go!» in norwegian.

It is also and specifically the name of the boat which the norwegian sailer and explorator Nansen used to cross the Arctic Ocean in 1893, and to try to reach the North Pole in 1895.

When the local E.E.D.F. scout group of Sartrouville was founded, common taste of members pushed them to organise camps in northern countries, especially Norway.

The name of the group reminds this early attachment.
